Join your neighbors for a week full of sustainability, community, and action — April 21–27

Each year, Citizens for Sustainability hosts or recommends Earth Week events in or near St. Anthony Village. Whether you’re cleaning up, donating, learning, or just enjoying a pancake breakfast, there’s something for everyone to get involved and make a positive impact!

📅 Event Schedule

April 21: Adopt-a-Drain Day

Take action right in your neighborhood! Adopt a storm drain to help prevent pollution and protect local waterways.

April 22–25: T-Shirt Donation Drive

Donate old t-shirts for Key Club’s T-shirt to Tote project, where students will make and donate tote bags to local stores to reduce plastic bag use.
🧺 Drop-off bins available at St. Anthony/New Brighton Schools, or send t-shirts to school with your children.

April 22 (Earth Day): Clean Up & Repair

5:30–7:00 PM: Silverwood Park Entrance Cleanup
Collect litter along County Rd E around the main park entrance and the west boulevard of Silver Lake Road along Silverwood Park. Hosted by Cub Scout Pack 153 & Scout BSA Troop 153.
📍 Meet at the park entrance

3:30–5:00 PM: Highway 88 Ditch Cleanup
Collect litter along Highway 88 from 33rd Ave to Trillium Park. Public Works will attend in a vehicle with flashing lights to alert drivers. Hosted by Kiwanis and Key Club.

4:00–7:00 PM: Fix-It Hub @ St. Anthony Library
Bring your broken household items and work with a friendly, skilled volunteer to try to fix your stuff and gain confidence with your own repair skills.
🛠 Free and open to all.

April 25: Rain Garden Day

4:00–6:00 PM: Rain Garden Cleanup @ Faith United Methodist Church
Collect litter and refresh the rain garden for this year.
🧤 All equipment and supplies will be provided!

April 26: City-Wide Parks Cleanup & Activities

10:00 AM–Noon: St. Anthony Parks Cleanup
Join Citizens for Sustainability and Parks and Environmental Commission members with support from St. Anthony Public Works at cleanups at any of our city’s parks. Share photos from the cleanups on Facebook or email info@citizensforsustainability.org.

Tips:
1. Protect yourself with gloves or use grabbers. Do not touch needles or other sharp objects. Contact St. Anthony directly if there is anything dangerous or too heavy to pick up.
2. If working along roads, wear bright colors.
3. Stay off of private property.
4. Dispose of trash in your own waste bins or in public bins only.

Salo Park and Ponds – Hosted by the Silver Lake Condo Association
Silver Point Park – Meet by the park entrance sign
Trillium Park (includes light gardening) – Meet in the cul-de-sac north of the park, co-hosted by Village Gardeners
Water Tower Park – Meet inside the park entrance along 33rd Ave

10:00 AM–Noon: Silver Lake Cleanup
Collect litter from the shoreline and surrounding areas of Silver Lake. Hosted by Silver Lake Residents Association.
📍 Meet at Silver Lane & Silver Lake Terrace

All Weekend (April 26–27): DIY Neighborhood Cleanup
Clean up litter near your home or workplace.

Tips:

9:00–10:00 AM: Climate Action Where We Live
📍 Nativity Lutheran Church
🌿 Learn about local climate action and how you can get involved.

9:00 AM–Noon: Pancake Breakfast @ East Side Neighborhood Services
All you can eat (pancakes only) served with Sentyrz breakfast sausages (one serving) and whipped cream, real maple syrup, fruit toppings, coffee, milk, juice. Hosted by Northeast Kiwanis.
🥞 Tickets are $10 for adults / $5 kids — Zero Waste Event!

April 27: Sustainable Style Sunday

1:00–3:00 PM: Earth Day Clothing Swap @ Silverwood Park
Hosted by Silverwood Park and St. Anthony Community Services.
Bring clean, gently used clothing to swap with others. Leave with a fresh look — for free!
